Runaway leaders Dundalk crush Bray

IRELAND: Runaway league leaders Dundalk crushed Bray 4-0 to stay 11 points clear of Cork, who needed a late Billy Dennehy penalty to secure their 1-0 win at Bohemians.

Limerick climbed off the bottom of the table after their 3-2 victory in Sligo and were replaced by Drogheda who lost 5-3 at Shamrock Rovers, with Danny North grabbing a hat-trick for the home team. Longford beat Derry 4-2 and St Patrick’s won 1-0 at Galway.

Champions TNS maintain lead

WALES: Champions TNS maintained their 100 per cent record and five-point lead in the Welsh Premier with a 2-0 win over Haverfordwest.

A Lee Hunt hat-trick helped Bala brush aside Port Talbot 5-2 to stay second and Llandudno are up to third after their convincing 4-1 win at Aberystwyth.

Newtown beat Connah’s Quay 4-2, Airbus came from behind twice to win 3-2 at Carmarthen and Bangor beat bottom of the table Rhyl 1-0.

Crusaders back on top after 3-1 win

NORTHERN IRELAND: Crusaders are back on top of the Irish Premiership, but only on goal difference, after they won 3-1 at Portadown and Linfield could only manage a 1-0 win at lowly Dungannon.

Cliftonville remain third following their 1-1 draw with Glenavon and Coleraine drew 1-1 at Glentoran to stay fourth.

Bottom club Warrenpoint’s miserable form continued with a 3-0 loss at Ballinamallard and Carrick came from two down to draw 2-2 with Ballymena.

RFU set for £15m RWC windfall

RUGBY: The Rugby Football Union will benefit to the tune of £15 million from the surplus made by the England 2015 tournament, it was announced yesterday.

Stephen Brown, managing director of organisers England 2015, said it had exceeded the revenue target of £250m which covers the surplus it must pay to World Rugby of £80m — leaving an extra £15m for the RFU.
