Under-25s lose £11k under Osborne

YOUNG workers will be robbed of up to £11,000 under George Osborne’s plans to limit wage rises to over-25s, new research revealed yesterday.

The Chancellor’s supposed “national living wage” of £7.20 is set to be introduced in April and to reach £9 by 2020.

Not only does Mr Osborne’s offer lag a full £1.05 behind the real living wage, but the Tory has condemned youngsters to poverty pay.

Lib Dem research revealed to coincide with the start of Living Wage Week shows that by 2020, under-25s will lose £212.46 a week.

A 20-year-old starting a minimum wage job today will earn over £11,000 less by 2020 than someone who is 25.

“The Chancellor’s sleight of hand will mean thousands of hard-working people will lose out, yet again,” said Lib Dem leader Tim Farron.

“This makes a mockery of (Tories’) claim to be the workers’ party.”
