GEORGE GALLOWAY became yesterday the third London mayoral candidate to pledge opposition to the so-called “Earl’s Court masterplan.”
The plans to demolish existing homes and small businesses and build luxury apartments with price tags starting in the millions are a joint venture between property developer Capco and Transport for London.
Locals say they will cost countless homes and jobs.
Mr Galloway said that his final act in Parliament before losing his Bradford West seat in May was to join Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell in a “three-man filibuster … in defence of Earl’s Court, of the public realm and against rapacious private development.”
If elected mayor he would immediately demand an urgent review of the scheme, he said.
Mr Galloway joins Lib Dem mayoral candidate Caroline Pidgeon and Green candidate Sian Berry in opposition.
