Jeremy Corbyn’s head of policy Andrew Fisher hit by suspension from Labour

JEREMY Corbyn’s head of policy was suspended by Labour yesterday over claims that he had campaigned for a rival party in the run-up to the general election.

Labour’s national executive committee has been asked to draw up a report on Andrew Fisher which could result in disciplinary action.

It is alleged that he advocated a vote for a Class War candidate against Labour’s Emily Benn in the Croydon South seat.

Ms Benn, who called for Mr Fisher to be expelled from the party, has more recently written that people should “consider joining the Women’s Equality Party.”

The Labour leader said he continues to have “full confidence” in Mr Fisher, who is understood to remain a member of his office team.

Mr Corbyn said: “I respect the integrity of the general secretary’s office and trust that this matter will be settled as quickly as possible.”
