Hundreds of flights were grounded until 7pm yesterday after the server for London’s air traffic control system failed.
The National Air Traffic Service confirmed that flights were held from Friday afternoon and that nothing was departing from Gatwick or Stansted into London airspace.
A spokeswoman said: “A technical problem has been reported at Swanwick air traffic control centre. Every possible action is being taken to assist in resolving the situation and to confirm the details.”
