SPEEDWAY: Tai Woffinden top-scored with 13+1 points but couldn’t prevent Sheffield from slipping to a 49-41 defeat at Belle Vue on Monday night in the first leg of their Premiership Knock-Out Cup quarter final. Monday’s other tie saw holders Ipswich lead from heat eight to win 48-42 at Leicester with Jason Doyle notching 11+1 points and Emil Sayfutdinov picking up 11. Both second legs take place on Thursday evening.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Reigning champions and table-topping Brechin will take a big step towards retaining their Highland League title with a win at Keith tomorrow night. Keith, who currently sit 12th are unbeaten in their last four games. Fourth placed Buckie, who beat Brechin last week, will move joint second with a win over bottom club Strathspey, while Brora face Deveronvale and Wick are at Forres Mechanics in tonight’s other games.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: TJ Shorts netted 21 points as Paris came from behind to win 93-85 at London Lions and reached their first ever EuroCup final. Matthew Morgan was London’s top scorer on 25 points with Jordan Taylor adding 17. Paris will face either Besiktas or compatriots Bourg en Bresse in the final after the Turks won 81-72 in front of over 15,000 fans in Istanbul to take their semi final to a deciding third leg in France.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: The Dolphins top the NRL for the first time in their short history after a 30-14 win at bottom of the table Gold Coast pushed them ahead of champions Penrith on points difference. Gold Coast have scored only 18 points and are the league’s only winless team after four rounds. Ex-Leeds star Aidan Sezer’s last minute drop kick sealed a 17-16 comeback win for the Wests over Parramatta in Monday’s action.
