Comedian Kevin Hart's fast-talking, snappy comebacks and frenetic energy aren't enough to rescue this buddy-cop film by numbers.

Hart plays Ben, a wannabe police officer who joins his cop brother-in-law-to-be James (Ice Cube) on a 24- hour patrol to prove to him that he is worthy of marrying the latter's sister Angela (Tika Sumpter).

James hates Ben's guts and, watching Hart's uber-annoying performance, you can understand why.

The urge to pray for Ben to be slapped down at every turn is irresistible.

Ice Cube and Hart have a great on- screen chemistry and make for an interesting comic pairing. But this is an action comedy which seems to rely on cop cliche after cop cliche.

Instantly forgettable.
