Labour List poll exposes weakness of belief among party members

Most Labour supporters do not believe the party can secure an overall majority at May’s general election, a Labour List poll showed yesterday.

Fifty-six per cent believe that Labour will be the largest party, but won’t have enough MPs to form a government alone.

Under half that number still think they can achieve a sweeping victory that will immediately see Ed Miliband become Prime Minister.

Only 2 per cent back the Tory Party to take sole control at Westminster, while 10 per cent think it will be the largest party.

Another 6 per cent have given up on predictions all together in what is being billed as the most unpredictable general election ever.

Labour List editor Mark Ferguson wrote: “This isn’t exactly the kind of result any Labour supporters are working towards but, given the close nature of recent polls, it isn’t the worst-case scenario by any means.”
