Activists call for end to arms sales

Peace campaigners demanded an end to arms sales to Saudi Arabia yesterday after Riyahd bowed to international pressure delaying blogger’s 1,000 lash sentence.

Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) accused the coalition government of promoting the Saudi regime by issuing arms licenses worth £3.8 billion.

“Saudi Arabia is an authoritarian state with an appalling human rights record”, said group spokesman Andrew Smith.
