AUSTRALIAN workers have occupied their works canteen in a dispute over pay.
The action involves members of the National Union of Workers employed by International Flavours and Fragrances in Dandenong in Victoria in south-east Australia.
The workers are in dispute over pay, and accuse management of attempting to lock them out after “months of fruitless bargaining.”
Their union said that after voting to ban overtime and paperwork, employees arriving for work yesterday were told they were being locked out, but dozens stormed through the factory gates and started the occupation.
Other workers and supporters staged a demonstration outside.
The occupation is being supported by the international union federation IUF.
