Just Stop Oil paints London landmark over oil and gas projects

CLIMATE activists daubed London’s Wellington Arch in orange paint today to demand the government immediately halt all new oil and gas projects.

Protesters with Just Stop Oil also set off smoke flares beside the landmark in Hyde Park Corner, also known as the Constitution Arch, and displayed banners reading “Just Stop Oil” before waiting for police to arrive to arrest them.

Of those taking action, 26-year-old Joshua Lane said: “Future generations live in uncertainty, and we are given false promises time after time by endless pantomime governments.

“Humanity faces the biggest crisis in history, and yet the government continuously ignores the facts, and only thinks of themselves and the billionaire oil barons they serve.

“One thing that cannot be ignored is the power of ordinary people, and our voices are only continuing to grow louder.”

Just Stop Oil is calling on the public to join its weekly march from October 29.
