Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore was calling for TV channels to stop broadcasting Rangers matches yesterday until they stop chanting sectarian songs at matches.
Collymore, now a commentator on Talksport, started an online petition to get broadcasters and sponsors to boycott the Scottish club until they stop chanting “Up to our knees in Fenian Blood.”
The petition has over 3,500 signatures and comes at a time when racism and sectarian chants are in the news following Chelsea supporters racially attacking a black man at a Paris Metro station earlier this week.
There were 12 arrests made for sectarian offences at Hampden after Celtic’s 2-0 victory over Rangers earlier this month, the first Old Firm derby in three years.
