Parma looking at bankruptcy
Football: Italian Serie A side Parma were yesterday facing bankruptcy after struggling to pay wages all season and unpaid taxes.
Sunday’s clash with Udinese is also in doubt with the club struggling to pay the police and stewards at Stadio Tardini, with reports suggesting Parma had €40,000 (£29,509) in their bank accounts.
With players reportedly not being paid over the past seven months, there is talk of them taking legal action against the club.
Pape to miss the rest of Six Nations
Rugby Union: France forward Pascal Pape was suspended for 10 weeks yesterday and will miss the rest of the Six Nations after he kneed Jamie Heaslip in the back during last Saturday’s 18-10 defeat against Ireland in Dublin.
Pape, who has a right of appeal, was cited under Law 10.4 (a) and appeared in front of a disciplinary panel together with France coach Philippe Saint-Andre on Wednesday.
‘White power’ signs in crowd
United States: A high school basketball game in the United States was marred by teenagers holding up “white power” signs on Wednesday night.
Students from Flower Mound High held up the signs during the match against Plano East, a team which was made up of mostly African-Americans.
After the match, the Plano East players and staff found their team bus had been urinated and defecated on.
Wales confirm talks with Cuthbert
Rugby Union: Wales assistant coach Rob Howley confirmed yesterday that the team’s management will speak to Alex Cuthbert over an incident in which he threw away a mobile belonging to a member of the public.
In the video, Cuthbert is shown to launch the phone down the street, much to the annoyance of the individual who angrily confronts him and calls him an abusive name.
Howley added that it took place when Cuthbert was not on Wales duty.
