Just Stop Oil activists carry out ‘mini-marches’ across London

DOZENS of Just Stop Oil activists carried out several environmental “mini-marches” across London today.

Protesters took to the streets in the City and the south and west of the capital.

A spokesman for the group, which is calling for the government to halt all licences and consents for new oil, gas and coal projects, said police used the section 12 powers to disperse them within five minutes.

The Met Police said at least one was arrested for failing to comply with the tougher protest regulations which came into force earlier this week.

In updates posted on Twitter, the force said it took between one and two minutes to remove protesters after imposing section 12 orders.

It comes as new polling found that 54 per cent of Brits prefer tax cuts to be focused on renewables, compared with only 15 per cent who think they should be given to oil and gas companies.  Pollsters Opinium surveyed 2,150 adults last week.
