Labour’s top donor backs Tory coalition

LABOUR’S biggest donor came out in support of a so-called “grand coalition” with the Tories yesterday.

John Mills, who donated a whopping £1.65 million in shares to Labour in 2013 and a further “five-figure” sum in the run-up to the general election, told the Financial Times that the two rival parties were on track to finish “neck and neck.”

But the chairman of consumer products company JML warned that Labour did not have the funds to fight a second election in the event of a hung parliament.

He said that in such an event it would be preferable for Labour to form a coalition with the Tories over the SNP or Ukip.
