Attention turns to the flat this afternoon with the Lincoln Handicap heralding the flat season while there is also a cracking all-weather card at Kempton Park as well.
Winner finding certainly won’t be easy so each-way will be the name of the game and I fancy we will get a huge run out of Related in the 3.25 at the Sunbury-on-Thames track.
This race is chock full of early pace which will benefit the David Simcock runner no end as he stays a wee bit further.
Add to the fact that he is a course winner and is still only 1lb higher than that last winning mark then anything in the region of 5/1 would make him an each-way bet to absolutely nothing.
Of his rivals, Yeeoow is certainly better than he has shown of late and is in turn preferred to the likes of Mishaal and Boomerang Bob.
The Lincoln (3.45) as ever looks very difficult to decipher and although exposed horses have been ruling the roost in the past few years, lightly raced horses with something in hand of the handicapper are the type of horse to side with.
That means that the Marco Botti trained Moohaarib at around 16/1 could be the best value left in what has been a very busy ante-post market.
I think most of the value has gone at the top of the betting with the likes of Mange All and Gm Hopkins and it is the selection, closely matched with the William Haggas-trained horse on last year’s form that is solid value especially as he appears to have a good draw in stall 16.
Of the rest, I fancy Fire Ship will outrun his huge odds, Gabrial would be interesting should it rain a bit more and Belgian Bill if it doesn’t.
Earlier on, the Spring Cup at 3.10 has an even more open look and the nominated each-way wager has to be Buckstay.
Peter Chapple-Hyam’s charge ran a cracker when placed in the Cambridgeshire and back to this bare mile, he could be well handicapped with young Tom Marquand taking 7lbs off his back.
In the finale at the Town Moor track have a second look at Raging Bear who is becoming seriously well weighted in the 5.25.
He has run well here before and as long as there is some give in the ground I expect he can make his presence felt off 61.
It’s the World Cup at Meydan in Dubai and I shall be having two bets on the entire card courtesy of an each-way call on Gold Ship in the Group Two Godolphin Mile at 12.40.
Later on, Sole Power can repel the southern hemisphere horses in the Al Quoz Sprint at 2.30 as long as the ground rides on the fast side of good.
