Photography in Liverpool

Only in England: Photographs by Tony Ray-Jones and Martin Parr Walker Art Gallery William Brown Street Until June 7

Only in England explores the lasting influence of photographer Tony Ray-Jones on the development of British photography from the 1970s to the present day.

An exhibition of more than 100 humorous yet melancholic images of ordinary life, they illustrate Ray-Jones’s self-imposed rule: “Don’t take boring pictures.”

Also on show are 50 photographs by Martin Parr, who was influenced by Ray-Jones’s work, from his non-conformist series. Free.
