Opportunist Tory poses as a socialist

TORY former minister Chloe Smith has boasted to constituents of her socialist credentials in a desperate bid to avoid losing her seat to Labour.

She has been caught trying to pass herself off as a comrade in her latest leaflet — red and white instead of Tory blue — to constituents in Norwich North.

In the leaflet she quotes a letter to the local newspaper from a constituent which describes her as “more like a socialist than a Conservative.”

But blog Political Scrapbook, which unearthed the letter, pointed out that her “socialist” record included voting for the bedroom tax, the cap on benefits and the tripling of university tuition fees.

“Voters won’t be hoodwinked by this true blue,” said Norwich North Labour candidate Jessica Asato.

“Tory MPs like Smith will say and do anything to cling on to power.

“The only solution is to give them a swift boot out office on May 7.”
