Kidnapping Freddy Heineken Directed by Daniel Alfredson 2/5

THIS one-sided tale, devoid of tension or drama, is a dramatisation of the 1983 kidnapping of the billionaire tycoon Freddy Heineken which resulted in the largest ransom ever paid.

Sadly it lacks thrills — and bottle.

Told solely from the point of view of the kidnappers you have no idea of what is going on behind the scenes to free the beer giant (Sir Anthony Hopkins) other than the snippets of news coverage they watch on the TV.

While Hopkins is the life and soul of this crime caper, unfortunately he is barely in it as Daniel Alfredson’s film concentrates on his captors.

A missed opportunity.
