Arts Ahead: The Isle is Full of Noises

LONDON MUSIC The Isle is Full of Noises Rich Mix Bethnal Green Road, E1 April 12

This concert by the Grand Union Orchestra celebrates the extraordinary musical melting pot that is East London today and includes world-class exponents of the Chinese gu zheng (harp), Carnatic violin, Bengali tabla, Turkish saz, Gypsy accordion, Trinidadian steel pan and traditional instruments from the Andes.

The concert launches a fortnight of events illustrating the ways artists can reflect and respond creatively to Britain’s rapidly changing demographic at a time when hostility to immigrants is on the rise. Highly recommended.
