Spain At least one gored and several injured in Pamplona bull run

AT least one person was gored and several others injured during the sixth running of the bulls in the Spanish city Pamplona today.

Spanish Red Cross spokesman Jose Aldaba told reporters at the end of the run that medics treated four other people for knocks and bruises sustained in falls and pile-ups during the run that lasted just over two minutes.

He said the the goring victim was treated for an injury to the arm. One bull charged into the back of a woman knocking her to the ground and lifted another runner into the air.

Three other gorings took place on Monday.

Tens of thousands attend the Pamplona festival, one of the most famous of such events to take place in Spain. Eight gorings took place in 2019, the last festival before the coronavirus pandemic.

Sixteen people have been killed in Pamplona’s bull runs since 1910 with the last death occurring in 2009.

The bull run ends in Pamplona’s bullring where the bulls are killed by professional bullfighters.
