LONDON Docklands Light Railway (DLR) workers voted yesterday to strike in a dispute over pay and conditions.
Members of rail union RMT backed industrial action by over four to one, a similar ratio to the outcome of a ballot among workers at Network Rail in a separate pay dispute.
The result will now be considered by the union executive.
RMT said it had been involved in extensive talks with DLR operator Keolis Amey Docklands over this year’s pay review and other issues including the shifting of the pay anniversary date.
Union members employed by DLR contractor Interserve have also voted overwhelmingly in favour of strikes.
“The union had no option but to move to a ballot of both the directly employed DLR staff and those hired in through Interserve in these two separate disputes,” said RMT general secretary Mick Cash.
“The union will not sit back while core issues on pay and working conditions are left unresolved.”
