Young Star reader spreads the word with DIY iPhone cover

A YOUNG Morning Star supporter is wearing his heart on his sleeve — or in his pocket — after making his own Star-branded iPhone cover.

“There weren’t many ways of me contributing to the Star as I’m probably too young to be a shareholder,” said 12-year-old Jake Havard, whose dad Jonathan is on our paper’s management committee.

“I wanted to do something for the paper.”

Rubber mobile phone covers are all the rage and, apart from their practicality as means of protecting phones from damage, have become a way to stamp one’s personality on an otherwise bland, corporate product.

“I’m quite creative so I thought a good way to get involved would be to design something that many people would have the opportunity to use in their everyday life and publicise the paper at the same time,” said Jake.
