Palestine: Firm making drones for Israel faces blockade

PRO-PALESTINIAN activists from across Britain unveiled plans yesterday to blockade a British-Israeli arms factory to mark the first anniversary of Israel’s murderous attack on Gaza.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign says last summer’s assault on Gaza, which killed over 2,200 Palestinians, was one of the most brutal acts of Israel’s occupation and colonisation of Palestine.

The attack was spearheaded by drone bombers made at the Elbit Systems factory near Birmingham.

Protesters occupied the factory last year.

A blockade is planned for July 6, the anniversary of the start of the military campaign against Gaza.

Organisations backing the blockade include Palestine solidarity groups across Britain, the Campaign Against the Arms Trade, Left Unity, the Drone Campaign Network and the Boycott Israel Network.

International football’s governing body FIFA is soon to vote on a proposal to exclude Israel from international competitions in protest at travel restrictions imposed on Palestinian footballers.
