Reach for the Star – how to get hold of the paper

There are a number of ways for you to read the people’s paper – either digitally or in print, from the shops or delivered to your door. Circulation manager BERNADETTE KEAVENEY explains

THIS week has been a great opportunity to promote the paper and reach out to members of the teachers’ unions with both NEU and NASUWT conferences taking place.

Over the next few weeks CWU, Unison Health and STUC Congress will take place and we will ensure that our paper gets into as many hands as possible.

It’s not long now to May Day — and this could be your opportunity to assist us.

Will you be attending a May Day event, having a Morning Star stall? Get your order in now to circulation (circulation@peoples-press.com) for a free parcel of papers to distribute.

It will be a bumper edition and could be a good introduction to the paper.

A regular inquiry to the circulation inbox is how do I buy the paper, where is the paper stocked, how do I subscribe to the paper?

Although we do have information on our website and we regularly put notices in the paper, the question is asked so often that the information does bear repeating often.

Let’s get rid of the myth that it’s difficult to buy the paper — here are my top tips to get your daily dose of socialism.

1. Do you want home news delivery? Visit Morning Star’s home delivery sign-up with the Newsteam Group (www.newsteamgroup.co.uk/morningstar) to see if the paper can be delivered to your area and follow the instructions.

If your area isn’t covered, contact circulation to see if we can suggest alternative agents. Subscribers to the print edition receive the premium digital edition free worth £199 per annum.

2. Any retailer that sells national newspapers can stock the Morning Star.

Decide which outlet is the most convenient for you and if they do not already sell the paper ask them to start stocking it.

Speak to the manager to advise them that the Morning Star is available through their usual wholesaler and that there is no risk in stocking it as it is fully sale or return, exactly the same as all the other national papers.

The big supermarkets may not have us on their approved list but the express versions of their stores will order the paper if requested.

Advise the manager that you wish to buy the paper regularly from the shop.

If they need any help in putting the order on, we can do that for them — we just need to know the name and address or the box number of the store. Delivery can usually commence within 48 hours.

3. Prefer to read the paper digitally? Visit www.morningstaronline.co.uk/subscribe to choose between the two packages.

The premium subscription gives full access to the website, a daily newsletter and the pdf version of the paper. The basic package gives access to the website but not the pdf.

If you are reading this and you represent a union branch, trades council or other organisation, contact circulation to discuss buying bulk orders of the printed paper for meetings, conferences and union offices or bulk orders of the digital edition for the offices of your branch or region.

OWNED BY OUR READERS

We're a reader-owned co-operative, which means you can become part of the paper too by buying shares in the People’s Press Printing Society.
