IN A huge boost to women’s football, EA Sports announced yesterday that 12 international teams will grace Fifa 16.
England, Germany and Canada are among the nations represented in the upcoming edition of the popular football game.
The majority of the squads have had their faces 3D scanned into the game in order to get their likeness in the game as realistic as possible.
England captain Stephanie Houghton and US international and world record international goal scorer Abby Wambach will feature, with the latter saying: “I honestly can’t believe all of the science and technology behind the game itself, let alone getting us into the motion capture suits and eventually into the game.
“We’re all excited to see ourselves in the game, but even more excited to see the reaction from all of the fans, including the fans of our team that maybe wouldn’t be expecting something like this from EA Sports.”
Houghton was equally excited, tweeting: “Finally it happened! @EASPORTSFIFA include me and my @england teammates in the new #FIFA16. Can’t Wait!”
The gaming company did confirm that women teams will not be able to compete against men sides, while for now there will be no domestic teams.
