Wind farm cash cut ‘a risk to credibility’

BRITAIN’S credibility in UN climate talks could be at risk if public subsidies for onshore wind farms are jeopardised by government cuts, Scotland’s energy minister warned yesterday.

Fergus Ewing urged Energy Secretary Amber Rudd to explain Tory plans to “reform” the subsidy regime, as pledged in the party’s manifesto.

The move would set a “terrible example” ahead of this week’s round of UN climate talks in Bonn, Mr Ewing argued.

World leaders meeting in Germany will discuss a new international climate-change agreement to be announced in full at the much anticipated Paris conference in December.
