PRESSURE continued to pile on the Scottish government today over a scandal-hit Glasgow “super hospital,” with Labour’s Anas Sarwar calling on ministers to listen to families affected by tragedies at the site.
During First Minister’s Questions at Holyrood today, the Scottish Labour leader challenged Nicola Sturgeon again over the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Govan, which has seen a number of patients die after contracting infections on site.
An inquiry is under way, but Mr Sarwar told the SNP leader that these tragedies were not being recorded correctly, with an oversight board not meeting for nine months.
He said that families who have lost loved ones want to see action taken to prevent repeats.
Mr Sarwar told MSPs: “I met with the chair and chief executive of the health board yesterday.
“Their complacent and belligerent attitude demonstrates everything that is wrong with the culture at the top of this health board.”
Ms Sturgeon said actions were being taken, with the vast majority of the recommendations made by an independent probe into the hospital now implemented.
