Cashman tops Rainbow List

LGBT: Household names from the worlds of sport, politics and showbiz were named among the most influential lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Britain yesterday.

Actor-turned-politician Michael Cashman topped the Independent on Sunday’s Rainbow List, ahead of last year’s winner, writer Paris Lees, and religious commentator and musician Vicky Beeching.

There were also mentions for Olympic diver Tom Daley and pop star Sam Smith.

Dover ferry hits dock injuring four

Travel: Four people were taken to hospital with minor injuries yesterday after passengers and crew were evacuated from a ferry which hit a harbour wall.

The Dover Seaways ship hit the dock as it left the harbour for the 8am crossing to Dunkirk.

Some people were treated for bumps and bruises at the scene while four were taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Kent, as a precaution.

Mundell fails to meet providers

Foodbanks: Members of the Scottish Parliament demanded yesterday that Tory Scotland Office Minister David Mundell MP keep a promise he made to meet foodbank providers. Committee officials have been unable to contact Mr Mundell’s staff since he made the commitment in June.
