NEIL FINDLAY launched a charter of rights at work yesterday as part of his campaign to become Scottish Labour leader.
The charter includes calls for greater devolution of employment law and sets out plans to use public procurement to drive up standards in the workplace.
Launching the charter, Mr Findlay said: “The zero-hours, low-pay culture we see now is not just bad for people — it is bad for our economy.
The most equal societies are the most successful societies, so it will be my aim to end exploitation and insecurity in the workplace, and to replace the national minimum wage with a living wage.”
Mr Findlay said existing powers made it possible to ensure that every public sector worker in Scotland is paid a living wage.
And he pledged to call for new powers to allow the Scottish government to create a Corporate Culpable Homicide Act that would allow families of workplace death victims to sue employers.
