UKRAINE: Kiev was hit by at least four explosions on Monday, with observers saying the attacks were carried out by Russian drones.
Sunflower oil tanks were set on fire by similar drones in the port city of Mykolaiv, the city’s mayor said.
A week ago Kiev was hit by Russian missiles at rush hour, part of nationwide attacks which left 19 dead.
This comes as Nato and Russia are set to separately hold planned nuclear exercises this month at a time of huge tension over the invasion of Ukraine.
CUBA: The first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Pinar del Rio, Yamile Ramos, reported yesterday that 53.09 per cent of the electric service in that territory had now been restored.
Pinar del Rio was the hardest hit by Hurricane Ian last month.
The Cuban recovery operation has been severely hampered by the US-led illegal blockade of the island which has stopped much-needed support from outside the country.
INDIA: In the next five years, India is set to become the third biggest economy after the United States and China, says International Monetary Fund's World Economic Outlook database.
The IMF said the South Asian country was set to reach the position two years earlier than initially expected, overtaking both Germany and Japan.
The report also said India may supersede the UK this year and become the fifth biggest economy, added the World Economic Outlook database.
SWEDEN: A Sweden Democrats official has been suspended by the far-right party for making degrading comments about Anne Frank.
In an Instagram posting that has now been deleted, Rebecka Fallenkvist called the Jewish teenage diarist “immoral,” among other things, according to Swedish media.
Anne Frank died aged 15 in Nazi Germany’s Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in February 1945.
The posting by Ms Fallenkvist was slammed by Jewish groups and the Israeli ambassador, Ziv Nevo Kulman, who tweeted: “I strongly condemn this despicable insult.”
