PAKISTAN: A speeding passenger bus crashed off a motorway and overturned in eastern Pakistan, killing at least 14 passengers and injuring 63 others, police and government officials said today.

The crash happened at night near the town of Kallar Kahar in Punjab province, a deputy commissioner, Quratulain Malik, said.

Police said they were still investigating the cause of the crash.

The goal of the Intergovernmental Conference on Marine Biodiversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction, which runs until March 3, is to produce a unified agreement for the conservation and sustainable use of these vast marine ecosystems.

UNITED STATES: One person was killed and 10 were injured on Sunday after a shooting in Memphis, Tennessee, according to the city’s police department.

The shooting took place at two spots in the Whitehaven area of Memphis, about 10 miles south of the city centre and near Memphis international airport.

AFGHANISTAN: Pakistani border guards and Afghan Taliban forces traded cross-border fire this morning, officials said, a day after Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers closed the Torkham border crossing amid increasing tensions between the two neighbours.

On Sunday, the Afghan Taliban shut the key trade route because of Pakistan’s alleged refusal to allow Afghan patients and their carers to enter Pakistan for medical care without travel documents, Pakistani security officials said.

There was no immediate word on casualties on either side.
