TIRELESS trade unionist and proud Scot Tommy Anderson passed away over weekend, fellow campaigners said today.
Mr Anderson died in Walthamstow, his home of many years, where he was chairman of the trades council, a Unite activist, fundraiser for the local homeless and more.
The 68-year-old had underlying health issues for some time, though he continued being active at his workplace in waste control for the borough of Waltham Forest, and at his union, Unite.
He was Waltham Forest Trades Council’s delegate to the Greater London Association of Trades Councils as well as active in organising the trade union May Day march through central London and local Workers’ Memorial Day events over many years.
In a statement, Waltham Forest Trades Council said: “Tommy is irreplaceable and will be missed, as will his energy for fundraising for local groups.
“Thanks, Tommy, and well done.”
