Thousands of Venezuelans march in support of Bolivarian revolution

THOUSANDS of Venezuelans marched on Saturday in support of the Bolivarian revolution and in rejection of the continued pressures being applied on the country by the United States.

Marches took place throughout the country in defence of the government headed by President Nicolas Maduro.

On his Twitter account Mr Maduro wrote: “I am excited to see the streets full of optimism, the people of the Altagracia parish of the Miranda municipality, Zulia state, demonstrating their strength and loyalty for the Bolivarian revolution.

“United we will continue fighting for peace and prosperity in Venezuela. Nothing and no-one will stop us!”

The mobilisations, organised by the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela, were also carried out to show loyalty and support for the revolution’s late founder Hugo Chavez, whose birthday fell on July 28.

In another tweet Mr Maduro said: “These are our ordinary men and women who fight and persevere, this is the town of ‘La Estacada,’ in the Rincon Hondo parish of the Munoz municipality, Apure state.

“We have everything to fight and win. Count on my support!”

The president also applauded the “revolutionary and patriotic force” of the citizens who mobilised in the Cabruta parish of the Juan Jose Rondon municipality, Guarico state.

“You are an example of struggle, unity and courage,” he said.

“We can proudly say that we have been loyal, in word and in action, to the legacy of commander Chavez,” the Venezuelan head of state added.

“I see it in the face of the woman and the man who goes out every day to build their future with effort, will, wisdom, without falling into blackmail or divisiveness. Chavez is the way!” he said.
