STRIKING workers at an agricultural feed manufacturer in Wales declared victory today after winning pay rises of up to 20 per cent.
The GMB Wales union hailed the result after more than 75 per cent of its members at ForFarmers in Carmarthen voted to approve an agreement with management, which was reached following strike action in the summer.
GMB organiser Peter Hill said: “This deal is a significant improvement for members. It’s a good step forward.
“We are happy the company came back to the table to negotiate, and our members’ pay is now more in line with other sites in England.”
Dozens of the workers had taken industrial action in protest at the agricultural feed company paying their counterparts in England up to 30 per cent more for doing the same work.
Those in Carmarthen will now be paid 8 per cent more for this year, along with non-consolidated payment of 2 per cent, or £750, and between 9 and 12 per cent more for 2024-25.
