MEN’S CRICKET:
Despite not playing any Twenty20 matches since 2014 and retiring from Test cricket in July, Jimmy Anderson has joined 1,573 other cricketers hoping for one of the 204 places available in the Indian Premier League’s upcoming auction.
England’s Test captain Ben Stokes will not be taking part, and none of the English players that appeared in last season’s competition have been retained by their teams prior to the auction.
AMERICAN FOOTBALL:
Patrick Mahones passed for 291 yards and three touchdowns as the Kansas City Chiefs maintained their eight game unbeaten start to the NFL season with an overtime 30-24 victory against Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
The defending two-time Super Bowl champions, who face Denver on Sunday, are the only team yet to taste defeat, while last year’s runners up the San Francisco 49ers have lost four of their first eight games.
MEN’S FOOTBALL:
The bottom two clash in the Europa Conference League this evening when Larne host Switzerland’s St Gallen at Inver Park.
Tonight’s other fixtures include fellow Irishmen Shamrock Rovers are up against Cymru Premier champions The New Saints, pace-setters Chelsea facing Armenia’s Noah FC, Hearts and Heidenheim both looking to defend their unbeaten records when they meet in Edinburgh and Legia Warsaw taking on Dinamo Minsk.
MEN’S FOOTBALL:
Richard Kone and Fred Onyedinma both scored twice as Wycombe romped to a 5-0 win at Stockport and moved top of League One, ahead of Birmingham on goal difference, although the Blues have a game in hand.
At the other end of the table, Burton ended a seven-match losing run in the league but remain bottom, and still without a win, after their 0-0 draw with Crawley in front of a crowd of just 1,810.
