WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Tottenham Women will play their home matches at Leyton Orient’s Brisbane Road from the start of the 2022-23 Women’s Super League season.
The collaboration will eventually result in a new hybrid pitch at the ground as well as floodlight upgrades.
Orient chief Mark Devlin told the club website: “Hosting their women’s team here will bring a number of significant benefits for Leyton Orient, including improved infrastructure to our stadium, the potential to gain some new supporters from the 22/23 season, and a boost to our own women’s team.”
WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: England boss Sarina Wiegman will not be with the squad at St George’s Park this week due to a close family bereavement, the FA said yesterday.
Wiegman’s absence means the 23-player squad announcement for Euro 2022 will be delayed until next week.
The head coach is expected to rejoin the Lionesses squad on Monday, June 13. In her absence, training will be led by assistant coach Arjan Veurink while Wiegman will remain in daily contact with the camp, the FA said.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: US sports investment firm Trivela have bought the controlling stake of Walsall.
The group, based in Birmingham, Alabama, have bought 51 per cent of chairman Leigh Pomlett’s shares and will also buy a further 25 per cent of the Saddlers within two years.
Founder Benjamin Boycott will join the Saddlers’ board as co-chairman with Pomlett, who has agreed to stay on for four years as part of the transition process.
Walsall finished 16th in Sky Bet League Two last season.
