MEN’S BASKETBALL: Cameron Gooden and Nedas Cholevinskas both scored 19 points as the Surrey 89ers earned a surprise 90-86 win in Leicester on Sunday to seal a 183-179 semi-final aggregate win in the Super League Cup.

The 89ers will face Sheffield in next month’s final after the South Yorkshire club eased to a 154-127 aggregate victory over Bristol.

Sheffield are currently second in the Super League, five place above Surrey.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Glasgow City still top the Scottish Women’s Premier League on goal difference after they crushed Montrose 8-0 and second-placed Celtic cruised to victory at bottom club Dundee United by the same score.

Katie Wilkinson netted a hat-trick as Rangers, who sit two points back in third, thrashed Aberdeen 10-0 while Hearts drew 1-1 with Partick, Hibs won 2-0 at Queen’s Park and Motherwell saw off Spartans 4-0.

MEN’S CYCLING: Former Tour de France and Giro D’Italia winner Egan Bernal will be wearing the Colombian national colours all season after following up last Friday’s win at their time-trial championships with success in Sunday’s road race success at Bucamaranga.

Bernal has fought back from a career-threatening crash in 2022 where he suffered 20 separate fractures and a punctured lung after crashing into a bus while travelling at over 30mph.

MEN’S ICE HOCKEY: Belfast Giants have opened up an eight-point lead in the Elite League after seeing off struggling Manchester 3-1 and edging to a 4-3 shoot-out victory over Guildford.

Defending champions Sheffield Steelers remain second despite a 3-2 overtime loss in Coventry after they had also beaten Manchester 3-1.

Bottom club Fife continued their winless run with a 4-0 loss at Glasgow and 8-3 thumping at home to Dundee.
