MEN’S FOOTBALL: Cymru Premier champions The New Saints continued their superb run of results with a 2-0 win at Bala that puts them 19 points ahead of second-placed Connah’s Quay, who drew 0-0 with Penybont. Cardiff Met edged out Newtown 2-1, Aberystwyth drew 1-1 at Haverfordwest, Pontypridd eased their relegation fears with a 2-1 win in Caernarfon and bottom club Airbus UK lost yet again, 3-1 at home to to Flint.

MEN’S CRICKET: New Zealand will meet Pakistan in Lahore tomorrow already facing the prospect of a Twenty20 series defeat after they followed up Friday’s heavy 88 run drubbing with a dismal 38 runs loss on Saturday. Pakistan captain Babar Azam clubbed an unbeaten 101 from just 52 balls in a total of 192-4 before Harris Rauf wreaked havoc on the Kiwis’ batting line-up again, to finish with figures of 4-27.

SPEEDWAY: Peterborough, the only Premiership team without a win, race off against Belle Vue at the East of England Showground this evening. Belle Vue gained their first points with a 49-41 win at Ipswich, new boys Leicester opened their account with a 47-42 defeat of Peterborough and Kryzsztof Kasprzak bagged a maximum 15 points on his home debut as King’s Lynn beat off Wolverhampton 49-41.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Dundee’s lead in the Scottish Championship is down to just one point after Kwame Thomas’s injury-time equaliser earned them a 3-3 draw with Greenock Morton and second-placed Queen’s Park had beaten struggling Hamilton 1-0. Play-off chasers Partick and Ayr drew 1-1, Inverness won 2-1 at relegation-threatened Cove Rangers and Arbroath moved four points clear of the bottom two with a 1-1 draw at Raith Rovers. 

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Brisbane Broncos came from behind to stuff Gold Coast 43-26 and stay two points clear in the NRL, ahead of champions Penrith, who squeezed past Newcastle 16-15 with a golden point, and the NZ Warriors, 22-14 winners over North Queensland.

Cronulla beat the Roosters 22-12, Manly saw off Melbourne 18-8, Canberra beat St George 20-14 and Parramatta brushed aside Canterbury 30-4. Basement dwellers Wests were not in action.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: While Larne celebrated their first ever Irish Premiership title after winning 2-0 at Crusaders, Linfield reinforced their grip on the runners up spot with a 1-0 win in Coleraine and Glentoran swept aside Cliftonville 3-0 to move into third place.

Glenavon edged out Newry City 1-0, Ballymena beat Dungannon 2-0 and bottom club Portadown continued their good form with a 3-1 win over Carrick. 

WHEELCHAIR RUGBY LEAGUE: Table-topping Leeds Rhinos boast the only 100 per cent Super League record after battling past the London Roosters 64-32 in the season’s first “Magic Weekend” in Birmingham.

The round’s other fixtures saw second-placed Halifax gain some revenge for their opening day defeat to Wigan by seeing them off 62-28 and Hull FC romped to 76-10 win against bottom of the pile Warrington.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: An understrength Leinster left it late to see off the Lions 39-36 in Johannesburg and preserved their unbeaten United Rugby Championship record.

Ulster moved second after thumping the Dragons 40-19, Munster sealed a play-off place with a 26-24 victory at the Stormers, Connacht eased past Cardiff 38-19 and Edinburgh beat the Ospreys 45-21.

Winless Zebre crashed 78-12 at the Bulls, Glasgow edged the Scarlets 12-9 and Benetton lost 43-33 at the Sharks.
