SNP MSP Stuart McMillan has warned of Labour’s ghosts of past, present and future this Christmas.
Despite the then SNP-Green coalition government signing-off on the biggest PFI deal in Scottish history last year — a £2 billion “partnership” between NatureScot and private banks — the Greenock and Inverclyde member branded it a “back-door form of privatisation” and the ghost of Labour’s past.
Moving to the present, Mr McMillan took aim at Labour’s decision to means-test winter fuel payments, removing it from 900,000 Scottish pensioners, while warning the hike to employers’ National Insurance contributions from April would haunt the party’s future.
Mr McMillan commented: “The Labour Party is nothing if not consistent — repeatedly letting down Scotland and acting against our best interests.
“Whether it’s the PFI scandal, Winter Fuel Payment cut — which the SNP are reversing — or National Insurance hike, Labour governments have taken decisions which are not only costly to Scotland but harm Scottish families.
“As we look ahead to 2025, we know exactly what we’ll get with Labour — more broken promises and the adoption of Tory policies like the two-child cap.”
