'Sit down and talk to us,' RMT urges Transport Scotland over Scotrail dispute

THE RMT said yesterday that negotiations are needed to reach a fair and just settlement in one of Britain’s longest-running industrial disputes. 

Members taking part in the latest round of action against Scotrail roday stood strong and continued to fight the pay injustice they are facing, the union said. 

Weekly protests and walkouts have taken place since March, and last week the union urged ministers in Scotland, including First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, to intervene. 

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “For nearly four months now our members have stood strong on Scotrail in this fight for pay justice and equality, and they are as united now as they were right at the start of what is now one of Britain’s longest-running industrial disputes.

“We continue to press Transport Scotland, the government and [Scotrail owner] Abellio to break their silence, get out of the bunker and sit down with us to negotiate a fair and just settlement.”
