MEN’S CRICKET: The second round of matches in Ireland’s inter-provincial Twenty20 tournament begin on Thursday with both unbeaten teams, the North West Warriors and Northern Knights clashing in Cork tomorrow morning.
The Knights smashed a record-breaking 236-3 as they demolished reigning champions Leinster by 73 runs in their opening match. Leinster face Munster, who lost their first game by six wickets to the Warriors, in Thursday afternoon’s game.
MEN’S BASKETBALL: The third match in the best-of-seven NBA Finals, the first to be held in Florida, tipped-off in the early hours of Thursday morning with the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat currently level on one win each. Miami are aiming to become the first team that were seeded eighth in the play-offs to win the title.
The Nuggets were ranked at number one and are still favourites with the bookmakers to become champions.
SPEEDWAY: Belle Vue Aces lost only two heats and Brady Kurtz scored 13+1 as they brushed aside Ipswich 55-35 to move back on top of the Premiership by one point from Wolverhampton, who have a game in hand.
The Aces are in Premiership action again tonight at struggling King’s Lynn while Ipswich travel to Leicester and Sheffield host Wolverhampton in the first leg of their Knockout Cup semi final.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: Uruguay meet Israel in the first semi final of Fifa’s Under 20s World Cup Thursday evening before Italy take on South Korea with both matches taking place at La Plata’s Diego Armando Maradona stadium.
None of the countries left in the competition have won the trophy before but South Korea were runners up in 2019. Italy’s Cesare Casadei is currently the tournament’s leading scorer with six goals.
