England drew 0-0 draw with Iraq in their last group game on Sunday to set up a knock-out match with Italy tomorrow when Brazil also meet Tunisia, Colombia play Slovakia and hosts Argentina face Nigeria.
WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Gloucester-Hartpury still lead the Premier 15s by six points, and secured a home play-off semi final against Bristol, after easing to a 48-14 win at Sale while second-placed Exeter thumped bottom club Wasps 82-7.
Saracens left it late to overcome Bristol 48-38 to remain three points further back in third, Harlequins crushed Darlington Mowden Park 81-10 and Loughborough’s game with Worcester was postponed due to the lack of ambulance cover.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti is set to leave the club after guiding them to their first Serie A title in 33 years.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis said that the 64-year-old, who took over the Partenopei in 2021, has asked to take a sabbatical and will leave the club with a year left on his contract.
Spalletti’s final game in charge is set to be at home to Sampdoria next Sunday.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: Jude Bellingham has been named the Bundesliga’s player of the season.
The England midfielder won the award just two days after his club Borussia Dortmund missed out on the Bundesliga title to Bayern Munich on goal difference.
Bellingham, who turns 20 next month, captained Dortmund this season to become the club’s youngest-ever skipper and scored 14 goals in all competitions.
