MEN’S CRICKET: Logan Van Beek smashed 30 in the Super Over to seal a dramatic Netherlands victory over the West Indies in the qualifying tournament for this year’s ODI World Cup.

Chasing 375, Teja Nidamanuru hit 111 off 76 balls and Van Beek clubbed 28 from 14 before falling to the last ball with the scores tied. The Dutch will carry two points into the Super Six stage while the Windies will have none.

SPEEDWAY: Vadim Tarasenko scored 14 points on his home debut but could not stop Peterborough, the Premiership’s bottom club, slipping to yet another defeat as they narrowly lost out 49-41 to table-toppers Belle Vue.

The Manchester team now enjoy a seven-point lead, but have raced four more matches than second-placed Wolverhampton, who maintained their unbeaten home record with a 65-25 thumping of King’s Lynn.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: The Championship takes Rugby League’s centre stage on Wednesday evening when Whitehaven host York City Knights at the Recreation Ground in what has already become a vital game in the battle to avoid relegation.

Both teams currently languish in the bottom half of the table and have very slim chances of reaching the end of season play-offs. Featherstone lead the Championship by eight points from Toulouse, Sheffield and Batley.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: The Concacaf Gold Cup group stages continue Wednesday morning as Guatemala take on Cuba in Fort Lauderdale and Jamaica meet Trinidad and Tobago in Missouri.

Jamaica began the tournament on Sunday with a 1-1 draw against hosts and reigning champions, the USA.

The Americans’ second match kicks off on Thursday against St Kitts and Nevis, who lost 3-0 to Trinidad and Tobago in their opener.
