Men & Women’s Rugby League: Elland Road has been chosen to stage the 2022 Challenge Cup semi-finals as well as the Women’s Challenge Cup final on Saturday, May 7.

The home of Leeds United will become the third stadium to host the triple header after Bolton and Leigh staged the event in 2019 and 2021 respectively.

The stadium will also be the venue for the draw for the first round of the Women’s Challenge Cup.

Men’s Football: Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira had to leave training today due to a “family matter” but he is set to attend Sunday’s clash with Man United.

Assistant coach Osian Roberts told reporters “Patrick received a phone call and had to leave immediately.

My thoughts are first of all with Patrick and the family but I’m just here trying to make sure collectively as a staff we rally round.”

Men’s Football: A man has been arrested after missiles were thrown at Hearts winger Barrie McKay at Celtic Park on Thursday.

McKay was struck on the back with what appeared to be a plastic bottle of juice, and other items were thrown at him as he prepared to take corners.

The former Rangers player made referee Bobby Madden aware of the problem during his team’s 1-0 defeat but did not appear to be hurt and carried on playing.

Men’s Rugby Union: Cardiff were set to return to Britain last night after finally leaving South Africa.

The 42 players were allowed to leave Cape Town after returning negative PCR results on five consecutive days since South Africa was placed on Britain’s red list following the emergence of the omicron Covid-19 variant.

After arriving at Heathrow via Dublin, they will begin a 10-day quarantine in an approved hotel in London.
