THE Women’s Super League was rife with transfer deals today, as West Ham announced the release of Rosie Kmita hours prior to Ellen White leaving Birmingham to join Manchester City.

The departures started on Wednesday night after newly promoted Manchester United released four players, Charlie Devlin, Naomi Hartley, Lucy Roberts and Ebony Salmon.

Keen to start the rebuilding process as early as possible, the Hammers followed suit 24 hours later by announcing that Kmita and the club had agreed to part ways.

The 24-year-old was only one of two existing players offered a professional contract when West Ham were granted WSL status in 2018.

“I have absolutely loved every single minute of my time with West Ham United,” Kmita said. “I have made so many friends and lots of amazing memories, and I feel so lucky to have achieved everything I have with this club.

“I have had the chance to play alongside some incredible professionals this season and I’m looking forward to taking what I’ve learned with me this summer. 

“I want to take the opportunity to say thank you to everyone at West Ham for a brilliant two years, and also to every fan who supported me during my time in the Claret and Blue.”

Meanwhile, Birmingham announced that after two years at the club, White was leaving the club and the striker’s new destination was revealed shortly after.

Having joined from Notts County, the 30-year-old led the club to the Women’s FA Cup final in her debut season and will join her new City teammates after representing England at this summer’s Women’s World Cup.

“I’m really excited,” she told CityTV. “Man City are a fantastic Club and I really can’t wait to start.

“I spoke with Nick Cushing and he really excited me as well. To play for City — an amazing club with a lovely stadium and the fans — and to be part of something that is going to be amazing is really exciting.

“I want to learn and develop and I think I’m really going to do that here. I’m looking forward to working with the staff both on and off the pitch and take advantage of these incredible facilities.

“Another attraction was to be involved in the Champions League. I want to be up there, winning trophies. Watching City win the FA Cup and the League Cup made me really want to experience that.

“I want to be involved in that winning mentality again and hopefully, I’ll bring passion and commitment, and score some goals. I want to lead off the pitch as well as on it.

“I can’t wait to get started, meet everyone and get out on the pitch.”
