EMMA LAMB has been named in England’s squad for the Women’s World Cup in New Zealand, it was announced today.
The 24-year-old all-rounder, who made her one-day international debut during this year’s Ashes series, has been included in a 15-strong squad for the tournament which starts in March.
Heather Knight will captain the team as England look to retain the trophy they won on home soil in 2017.
Sarah Glenn and batter Maia Bouchier have not been named in the squad after both featuring in England’s 12-4 series defeat against Australia, with the spinner opting not to make herself available for selection.
With England having spent extended periods in bubbles during the past year, players and staff could decide whether or not they wanted to opt in for the tournament, and Glenn chose not to.
An ECB statement read: “All players and staff were asked to opt in to the tournament having fully considered the quarantine period and living protocols in place after quarantine. The well-being of our players and staff is our number one priority and we support Sarah in this decision.”
