Women’s Football England Football launches training sessions for girls aged 12 to 14

ENGLAND Football has launched training sessions for girls aged 12 to 14 aimed to provide the opportunity to get involved with the sport on a recreational basis, it was reported today.

Backed by the FA, the Squad Girls’ Football programme will be launched more prominently in and around the host cities of the Euro 2022 tournament.

The sessions, which usually run for around one hour and cater for all abilities, are aimed for up to 20 girls to come along, with no commitment required with a cost of no more than £3 each per class.

The focus of Squad Girls is intended to be “more than just the game itself,” with a view to having fun and making friends which organisers hope will help building core skills both on and off the pitch.

Sessions are set to look at everything from building confidence and learning key leadership skills, to perfecting basic passing and dribbling techniques.

All of the coaches delivering the sessions must have attended squad specific training, which centres around how to make sure the needs and preferences of girls within the age bracket are catered for, to ensure a safe and comfortable space for them to enjoy football.
