PALESTINE supporters will mobilise in around 30 British towns and cities tomorrow ranging from Newport, in the Isle of Wight, to Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands.
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) has called for mass mobilisations after a week of Israeli atrocities, including the burning alive of a teenager in a Gaza hospital compound and the bombing of civilians and a United Nations compound in Lebanon.
It also condemned Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for again refusing to impose an arms embargo on Israel despite its violations of humanitarian and international law.
PSC director Ben Jamal said: “In the week that an Israeli missile strike burned 19-year-old Shaban al-Dalu alive, Israel massacred hundreds more Palestinians in Gaza and bombed civilians and a UN compound in Lebanon, Keir Starmer refused to consider an arms embargo.
“He knows that Israel is breaking international law in its genocide, but he will not act to stop British weapons and military supplies being used.
“The message he is delivering to Palestinians like Shaban al-Dalu is your lives don’t count.
“We will not allow him and his government to ignore the barbarity which they are supporting by continuing to arm Israel.
“We demand a two-way arms embargo immediately.”
In shocking TV footage from the aftermath of Israel’s bombing of al-Aqsa hospital in Deir al-Balah on Monday, Shaban al-Dalu’s hand and forearm was seen reaching out from the flames before disappearing.
Tomorrow’s national day of action goes under the banner Stop The Genocide in Gaza, Hands Off Lebanon, Don’t Attack Iran.
Saturday’s London demonstration includes a rally in Trafalgar Square featuring speakers such as British journalist and author Gary Younge, John McDonnell MP, PCS Civil Service union general secretary Fran Heathcote, NEU teaching union president Phil Clarke, comedian and author Alexei Sayle and Ahmed Alnaouk, a journalist who has lost more than 20 members of his family in Gaza.
The rally runs from 2-4pm.
Mr Jamal added: “Our national day of action shows people from Orkney to Weymouth care about justice for Palestinians and will not give up hope or lose determination.
“We ask everyone to join their local action.”
