New Internationalist launches new series to challenge global arms trade

NEW INTERNATIONALIST has launched a new series to challenge the global arms trade, the magazine revealed today.

The year-long project will explore the human, economic, environmental and security costs of government complicity in the arms trade, and provide a roadmap for global action.

New Internationalist co-editor Amy Hall said: “Building on a rich legacy of anti-militarist campaigning, there has been an acceleration of activism on the arms trade since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza.

“We believe that this new series will enable us to do what we do best: provide in-depth, solutions-focused coverage that provides people with the tools to change the world for the better.

“We will provide a vital platform for individuals and organisations to take action and demand change, whether it be around Palestine, Sudan, Ukraine or Congo.”

The project will include in-depth articles, discussion events, podcasts and newsletters.

A launch event for How to Stop the Arms Trade will take place on the evening of Monday April 28 at Palestine House in London and will hear from a panel of speakers from Campaign Against Arms Trade, Palestine Action and more.
